Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge launched at MWC 2015

MWC 2015  is really exciting, we've seen a lot of great launches that include the Huawei Smartwatch, the HTC One M9 and finally now its time for Samsung to make the big announcement and here it is, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S6:

The S6 follows a totally different design language and it's impressive, the all glass design looks good.

Processor: Exynos Octa Core 2.1GHz chipset.
RAM: 3GB LPDDR3
Display: 5.1 Inch Super AMOLED with QuadHD resolution (577ppi)
Battery: 2550mAh
Storage: 32GB,64GB or 128GB (fixed, based on Universal Flash Storage 2.0) [no sd card expansion]
Cameras: Front: 5MP
Rear: 16MP with Optical Image Stabilization
It has a fingerprint sensor, LTE Cat 6 support, TDD and FDD bands, Bluetooth 4.1
Android Version: 5.0 Lollipop with Samsung's lighter than before TouchWiz

The S6 is top notch and these specifications are beastly.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge:

The S6 Edge is different than the Note Edge, the S6 edge has a dual side edge i.e has the edge on both the sides of the screen, this feels a lot better than one sided edge on the Note Edge.
As far as the specifications go the S6 edge is a little bit more beastly as compared to the S6.

Processor: Exynos Octa Core 2.5GHz chipset
RAM: 3GB LPDDR3
Display: 5.1 inch Super AMOLED with QuadHD resolution (577ppi)
Battery: 2600mAh
Storage: 32GB, 64GB or 128GB (fixed storage, based on UFS 2.0 and no MicroSD card expansion)
Camera: Front:5MP
Rear: 16MP with Optical Image Stabilization

It is pretty much similar to the S6 and both these devices support Wireless charging.

So what do you think? Do you like the new design language or the fixed storage options? Which device would you prefer the S6, S6 Edge or the HTC One M9? Leave a comment in the comment section down below. Hit the +1 button and share the post if you liked it. Thanks

My 1st Android !!!

Android was a total hit or miss back in its early ages....... But when compared to the Java based phones I'd say it was something totally different. I was so happy to own my 1st Android device. Well there were only a few devices out there and I wasn't a big tech lover, so all I knew was that I wanted an Android device and so the search began and I had to choose between Samsung Galaxy 3, Galaxy Pop & Galaxy Fit.

The Galaxy 3 & Pop had an almost similar price tag, the Galaxy Fit was the costliest of the lot and I loved its back. So my parents bought me the Galaxy Fit (it was my birthday gift) and I finally had my first android smartphone. I opened the box and my device was right in front of my eyes and I took it out of the box and I opened up the back and popped in the battery and booted the device.

The specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 are as follows:
1) a 240x320 pixels 3.3 inches display (121 PPI)
2) 160mb internal storage expandable up to 32GB
3) 280mb Ram
4) 5MP Primary Camera
5) Android 2.2 Froyo upgradable up to 2.3 Gingerbread
6) 600Mhz processor

I still have it and its fully functional, here are a few shots of the device :

Here's what the device looked from the front, had a physical home key, 2 capacitive buttons and the 3.2 inch screen:

It looked like this from the back, the 5MP Primary Camera and the single tiny speaker (was loud enough):

Have a closer look at the designed back (I loved it) :

The left side of the device had the volume rockers and MicroSD Card slot:

The right side had the Power button:

The Top had a MicroUSB port and the 3.5mm audio jack:

The bottom had a single microphone :

It was totally different back then and from that day onward I was addicted to Android and my love for android grew and grew and is still growing.....

I'd love to hear about your 1st smartphone. So which was the device that brought you into the smartphone world ?? post it in the comment section below.

Bad news for Samsung lovers, the S3 international version (GT-I9300) was supposed to be updated to Android KitKat. But the company has canceled the update. Maybe it's because of the 1GB ram in the international version as compared to the 2GB ram in the LTE and US variant.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini To Be Called S5 Dx

Samsung Galaxy S5 Dx leak

Recently Evleaks tweeted a picture revealing that Samsung may be planning to dub the S5 Mini as S5 Dx. It's going to be available in White, Black, Blue, Gold and Yellow with S5 perforated back design.
There are a few discrepancies in the screenshot like the name of the device in page title on the browser tab and LED placement is off-center in the Gold version.
As per previous rumours, the S5 Mini/ Dx will come with a 4.5 inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1.5GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. The phone will include a 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. Its supposed to have a 2100 mAh battery.
There is no official information about the release date.

3 May 2014

In February, Samsung USA stated that the Galaxy S3 would receive the KitKat update soon. Well good news the company is now rolling the update.

Sprint has released the Chocolate Wafer flavored  android OS build number: L710VPUCND8 for the Galaxy S3. The firmware is available via OTA (Over the Air) as well as PC suite.

The Galaxy S3 users can check for the update by going to Settings -> More -> About Phone -> check for update.

Other network providers are also said to follow the suit in USA. But there is no information about Samsung making the update available for the international variant. It won't be a good move by Samsung if they don't release it for the international variant as it would hurt a lot of fans.

So far Samsung has released the KitKat update only to the 2013 flagship devices - Note 3, S4, S4Active(USA), Note 2 (France & India) and Note 10.1(2014 edition) in almost all markets. The company is also set to roll out new firmware to S4 Mini. S4 Zoom, Note 2, S3 Mini, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light and tablets such as Note 8.0,10.1 and Tab 3.

Features of 4.4.2 KitKat:
1) Location Menu.
2) Enhanced Google Mobile Service (GMS) App.
3) Improved Caller ID
4) Priority Contacts
5) Immersive Display.
6) Enhanced Messaging Group
7) Emoji Characters.
8) Wireless Printing
9) Improved Multi Tasking
10)Improved performance.

Verison Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 Update

Android 4.4.2 Kitkat is rolling out. The Verison Galaxy S4 users don't have to wait till May 2 to get the update.
Here's a screenshot from a user:
verizon_gs4_kitkat_update_screenshot
Since Verizon has not yet announced an update itself nor provided official support documents, it is not yet known if the I545VRUFNC5 build software is available over the air, but users should be able to prompt the Android 4.4 update manually by accessing Settings > General > About device > Software update on their Verizon Galaxy S4 handset.
The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Verizon Galaxy S4 likely includes enhancements such as a restyled status and navigation bars, full-screen mode, color emoji support, improved closed captioning support, stronger security and smarter power use; the update will also feature a new phone dialer app, a new gallery app and the “touch to focus” option. There probably are other Verizon specific changes included in the update.

So happy updating :)
